No. We use anesthetic eye drops to numb the eye surface so you won't feel anything. A small probe gently touches the front of the eye or the eyelid to take the measurement. It takes only a few minutes.

The IOL Master uses light (optical biometry) and is non-contact, while the A-Scan uses sound waves (ultrasound). We often use the A-Scan when a patient has a very dense cataract that light cannot penetrate.
