5 Easy Ways to Detox Your Eyes at Work

At Trivision Eye Care and Lasik Centre, our ophthalmology team shares quick, effective ways to detox your eyes at work — no special equipment needed!

1. Follow the 20-20-20 Rule

How: Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.

Why it works: This helps relax the focusing muscles of your eyes and reduces fatigue.

2. Eye Rolling

How: Gently roll your eyes in a circular motion — clockwise, then counterclockwise. Repeat 5 times.

Why it works: It boosts blood flow to the eyes and relieves stiffness in the eye muscles.

3. Palming

How: Rub your hands together until warm and gently cup your palms over closed eyes without pressure. Breathe deeply and relax for 30 seconds.

Why it works: Palming helps relieve stress and tension.

4. Focus Shift

How: Hold your thumb about 10 inches from your face and focus on it. Then shift your focus to an object 10–20 feet away. Alternate 10 times.

Why it works: It improves flexibility in focusing and reduces strain from staring at a fixed distance.

5. Blink Often and Use Artificial Tears

How: Make a conscious effort to blink fully and frequently.

Why it works: Blinking keeps your eyes moisturized. Screen use reduces blink rate, leading to dryness and irritation.

  • Maintain a screen distance of 20–24 inches.
